Zalgiris Kaunas added deep range and experience to its roster by inking swingman Niels Giffey to a one-year deal, with option for another, the club announced Friday. Giffey (2.00 meters, 30 years old) arrives from ALBA Berlin, where he played in the last seven seasons. He averaged 8.1 points on 41.8% three-point shooting and 2.9 rebounds in 24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague this season, his third in the competition. Giffey helped ALBA win a German League title in 2020. He also lifted two German Cup trophies in 2016 and 2020, and reached the 7DAYS EuroCup Finals in 2019, always with the German powerhouse, the only team in his professional basketball career until now. Before that, Giffey played for the University of Connecticut, helping it win two NCAA Tournament titles in 2011 and 2014. He has also been a member of the German national team.
Niels Giffey and Zalgiris agree on a 1+1 deal! ✍️
