Tavares will join Arsenal as the back-up to Kieran Tierney at left-back. The 24-year-old former Celtic left-back is the clear first choice in his position at the Emirates Stadium, but manager Mikel Arteta does need to sign a suitable back-up. Tavares is only 21, which means that he can only improve and develop as a footballer in the coming years.
